PALERMO — A teenager from China was seriously injured after he lost control of his vehicle on North Palermo Road in Palermo on Tuesday.

The driver of a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup was heading southbound when he left the roadway. 1605 North Palermo Road. Vehicle crashed Cement barrier along the driveway of a private residence toppled over, according to Chief R.Oger Komandt of the Palermo Fire Department.

Due to the force of the impact, the concrete barrier that the property owner had placed to protect the driveway was thrown out. Commandant said.

The Waldo County Regional Communications Center was alerted to the accident at 12:07 p.m. Members of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments and EMS responded to the scene.

The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash remained under investigation Thursday.
