Two seriously injured in Clam Lake crash, driver arrested for OWI

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Two passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition and their driver was arrested for drunk driving following a crash in Clam Lake Township Tuesday afternoon.

Donavan Bigelow, 32, of Manton, is charged with two counts of operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury and a fourth count, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers said he was traveling westbound on East 48 Road with two passengers, a 32-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Manton.

Bigelow failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a car driven by a 41-year-old Tustin man traveling south on Mackinaw Road. There was a 16-year-old female passenger in the other car.

According to MSP, Bigelow showed signs of intoxication and sobriety tests were administered. Bigelow failed sobriety tests and was arrested.

Its passengers were seriously injured and taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, where they were in critical condition.

The occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Bigelow’s bond was set at $50,000.
