MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The scene has been secured following an active shooting near Blount Memorial Hospital, according to Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp.

Information is scarce at this time. Crisp, interviewed by WVLT News, emphasized that police responded to an area near Blount Memorial Hospital, but the call was not at the hospital.

WVLT News also spoke with an official from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, who said shots had been fired and the call came in around 10 a.m.

Crisp also made it clear that the scene was safe.
