Were you enjoying it? New York Times Connections puzzle game? There is now a version of the game that focuses on sports-related words. It is simply called Links: Sport EditionWe have clues and answers.

The game is in beta for now, which means the Times is testing the game to see if it’s popular before adding it to the site’s Games app. For a while you can play every day for free; Then we will have to see if it will be permanent.

How to play Connections: Sports Edition

The rules are almost the same as the regular game. You are given 16 words and asked to sort them into four groups that are related in some way. The main difference is that all words and categories have some kind of sports connection. Although sometimes the categories seem clear, the game tries to trick you by using sports-related words that can fit into more than one group. And the four groups of words have different levels of difficulty. Yellow is the easiest and purple is the hardest, but you won’t know which color group is which until you solve the puzzle.

But you don’t have to be a sports obsessive to crack Connections: Sports Edition; but it helps to have some knowledge of a number of different sports and athletes. Words may include player names, team names, or sports-related events.
