WAUKEGAN, III. (Wales) — A teenager was killed while cycling in the northern suburbs over the weekend, according to police.

Waukegan police said the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Belvidere Road and Fulton Avenue.

A 17-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle on the road while cycling.

Waukegan police said the driver did not remain at the scene.

When the police arrived, they saw that the young man was unresponsive. He died at the scene.

He was later identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office as Jorge Carmona of Waukegan.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department Major Crash Unit.
