Luka Doncic Admits Costly Mistake in Mavericks-Warriors

Luka Doncic led his team by scoring 31 points in the Dallas Mavericks’ 120-117 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. But he was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, including missing the potential game-tying basket in the final seconds.

It’s been a rough ride for Doncic, who was one of the NBA’s best clutch players last season; Doncic is currently shooting 33.3% from the field and 25% on three of six clutch opportunities (five points or less, under). Five minutes this season).

Doncic didn’t seem happy with the quality of his final shot against the Warriors.

“I think it could have been a lot better,” Doncic said of his potential game-tying shot selection. “The shot clock was winding down, so I was just kind of trying to get to my spot and see if anyone was open on the last shot, so I saw there were three, four seconds left and I took the shot.”

The shot came with about 5.5 seconds left, but instead of living or dying on one shot, he allowed an offensive rebound opportunity. But this miss follows a similar theme to what we’ve seen from the Mavericks so far, with little to no off-ball movement and even the ball screen doing nothing here. Jason Kidd hasn’t had any real plans late in games so far, so that’s something they need to adjust as well.
