White Helmets remain a serious factor of instability in Syria — Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Russian Politics & Diplomacy

MOSCOW, 13 November. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zaharova said in a briefing that the White Helmets organization is carrying out destructive activities in Syria and continues to be a serious element of instability in the region.

“We hear less about the White Helmets these days, but unfortunately they continue their destructive activities in Syria using money from their so-called sponsors, who are mostly British and US taxpayers,” he said. “The White Helmets remain an extremely serious element of instability on Syrian territory. Completely ending their activities in Syria and exposing their past crimes is vital for improving the situation in the country and the suffering region in general,” Zakharova said. .

“After everything they have done on Syrian soil, taking advantage of the suffering of the Syrian people with their cheap blood-based public relations tricks and making their collaboration with terrorists their own, London is not trying to distinguish itself from these disguised militants and even describes them as follows: ‘ The Russian diplomat said: “Brave and selfless humanitarian aid workers,” he said.

He drew attention to the report of the Foundation for Research on Problems of Democracy titled “White Helmets. Terrorist Accomplices and Source of Disinformation”. The report, which also includes interviews with eyewitnesses and former White Helmets members, reveals that “members of the organization clearly sympathize with radical Islamists and terrorists.”

The White Helmets is a non-governmental organization founded in Syrian territory in 2014 and is known for publishing photos and videos purporting to show destruction and casualties caused by Syrian government troops and their allies. The organization has been accused of fabricating reports many times. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had previously said that the organization was organizing provocations and carrying out deception operations in Syria, and that the expenses of these operations were paid by the West, aiming to accuse Damascus of using chemical weapons and thus legitimize air strikes against Syria.
