Motorcyclist dies after being ejected after colliding with service truck in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Michigan. – A 53-year-old man riding a motorcycle on I-75 in Monroe County died after colliding with a service truck.

The incident occurred at 05:43 on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to northbound I-75 near M-26 for a two-vehicle collision.

The crash involved a motorcycle driven by a 53-year-old man from Detroit and a shuttle truck driven by another 53-year-old man from Dundee.

Following a police investigation, the burgundy Honda motorcycle was traveling north on I-75 when it struck the back of the northbound service truck, ejecting it from the motorcycle, according to Troopers.

As a result, it was determined that the motorcycle driver died at the scene.

The truck driver and the only person in the truck escaped uninjured.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor.

The incident remains under investigation by Michigan State Police.

Michigan State Police were assisted by the South Rockwood Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin County Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance.
