Cooper Green Mercy Healthcare to open in December

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Cooper Green Mercy Health Care Authority, a UAB Health System subsidiary, is preparing to open the doors of its new hospital in December 2024.

Cooper Green Mercy Healthcare will offer patients advanced medical care in a convenient location in Birmingham. It will provide full-service outpatient care, including primary and specialty care clinics, urgent care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, laboratory services and imaging. There is also a pharmacy on the hospital campus.

This state-of-the-art medical facility is a five-story building of approximately 211,000 square feet.

“With the new footprint in the home, we are much more directed and designed towards patient care,” said David Randall, CEO of Cooper Green Health Authority. “Cooper Green will provide services to everyone,” Randall added.

There are certain requirements to register as a patient with Cooper Green Mercy Healthcare. Patients must be 18 years old, a one-year resident of Alabama and a resident of Jefferson County for at least 30 days, according to the hospital’s website.

The hospital will accept Medicare, Medicaid, and many third-party reimbursement plans. Those eligible for financial aid will be required to provide certain documents verifying residence, identity and family income.

Cooper Green Mercy Healthcare is located at 1509 6th Avenue South in Birmingham.
