The body of a 19-year-old woman was found on a banana farm in Kiambaa district following a suspicious murder.

Detectives are investigating the murder of 19-year-old Sharon Atieno, also known as Nicole, who was killed hours after leaving her home for a walk.

Sharon’s severely mutilated body was found in a banana plantation in the Banana region on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Police said the cause of the murder has not yet been determined.

Friends said he left his home in Thindigwa, Karuri, at 10pm on Thursday to make a phone call.

He was also going for a walk, leaving his roommate behind.

Hours later, friends said they tried to reach him but to no avail.

The body was only found the next day in a banana field in Kiambaa’s Gachorwe village.

Kiambaa District Police Commander Pius Mwathi said they had not made any arrests yet.

“Detectives are following leads regarding the murder and we hope to make arrests soon,” he said.

An autopsy was planned for Wednesday, November 13, 2024 to determine the cause of death.

This will help the police know what they are investigating.

Elsewhere in Kabarnet, Baringo County, a woman’s body was found in the bush following a suspected murder.

Police say Gladys Jemuge’s body has been found Covered with a piece of clothing in Kuriondonin village in Kewamoi Sub-county.

The corpse had visible physical injuries on its head, bruises on its lower right abdomen, and blood was oozing from its mouth, nose, and right eye.

No arrests have been made in the weekend murder and the body was taken to the Baringo County Referral Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

This puts the number of women in an unrelated trend above 100.

Police say the killings were criminal offenses and that no gender was targeted.

Detectives say they are looking into all reported murder cases.

They argue that they cannot prevent murder because such events are planned or committed with a motive or by unresponsive people.
