HOUSTON – Gloria Williams was sentenced to 50 years in prison Tuesday as part of a plea deal for her role in her son’s tragic death, ending a case that plagued the Houston community and left a deep impact on her surviving children.

Williams’ boyfriend, Brian Coulter, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Williams’ 8-year-old son, Kendrick Lee.

According to court records, Coulter attacked Lee at his apartment in the 3500 block of Green Crest Drive near the Westpark Turnpike. Prosecutors alleged that Coulter continued to live in the apartment with the child’s decomposing body, and that Kendrick’s siblings stayed in the room with him.

The brothers stated that they witnessed the attack and were in the room when the 8-year-old boy died. His body was left in the room with his siblings for a long time. One of the brothers revealed that Coulter beat Kendrick over a water-related incident. Coulter allegedly became angry when Kendrick drank what Coulter thought was more than her share of water.

When police arrived in October 2021, only skeletal remains were found in the apartment, according to court documents.

According to court reports, Williams lived in the same apartment with her son’s decomposing body for months from November 2020 to March 2021, before leaving her other children to live alone with the body.
