Trump made another personnel announcement on Tuesday, this time announcing that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the “division” that Trump said he plans to create.

“Together, these two great Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, cut excessive regulations, cut wasteful spending, and restructure the Federal Agencies necessary for the ‘Save America Action,” Trump said in a statement.

“It will potentially be the ‘Manhattan Project’ of our time,” he continued.

Trump said this new unit will be called the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE (a name for Musk). invented by referencing doge meme.

In the statement, Trump stated that Musk and Ramaswamy will complete their work by July 4, 2026, and said, “A smaller Government that is more efficient and has less bureaucracy will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.”
