M.user and Aston Barrett Jr, the Wailers’ pack leader, is serious about taking care of himself and living a healthy life, and has made the gym part of his daily routine.

While training for a routine at a gym in Florida last Friday, Barrett received great news.

“I was working out at the gym and running, and then the calls started coming in. That’s how I found out we had been nominated for a Grammy Award again,” Barrett said. Jamaica Observer weekend.

The Wailers were awarded in the Best Reggae Album category. EvolutionA 12-piece set created in collaboration with Emilio Estefan Jr, husband of legendary singer Gloria Estefan.

The Wailers have been nominated for One World in 2021.

This time around, Barrett shared how she felt about the nomination.

“I’m so honored to have this happen again. We’ve improved so much in terms of the quality of the music on this album. The work everyone has put into the album is appreciated and ‘acclaimed’. We’re so honored,” said Barrett.

When asked what kind of work was done in the making of the album, he said: Evolution It represents the past, present and future. Everything in life is an evolution. My father started this in the 1960s with Bob and beyond. “He has now passed the torch to me to carry the Wailers’ message.”

Barrett said: “We didn’t follow any normal rules for recording and mixing, so the sound is very different and we’re very happy with the product. “We wanted to bring a new level of sound and quality to this album.”

Legendary Grammy winner Mykal Rose, master singer Marcia Griffiths, Estefan’s daughter Emily, Mitchell Brunings and Gramps Morgan are among her collaborators.

“I co-produced this album with Emilio and was a part of the entire process, from playing most of the instrumentals on the tracks to writing and singing the vocals. It was a great experience and we feel like we can continue to spread the positive message of reggae music,” added the drum and bassist.

He continued: “The best part of working on this album was working with Emilio Estefan and the experiments we were able to do with the sound. The entire album was recorded and mixed at Emilio’s studio, Crescent Moon Studio. The horn sounds were recorded at Tuff Gong studio in Jamaica.”

The Wailers band was formed by Bob Marley and former members of the Wailers after Marley’s death in 1981. The band was led by bassist Aston “Family man” Barrett until 2016, when he handed over the role to his son Aston Jr.

On August 21, 2020, the band released the album One WorldTheir first studio album in 26 years.

Current members of The Wailers also include Owen “Dreadie” Reid (rhythm guitar and bass); Junior “Jazz” Wendell Ferraro (guitar, vocals); and Tamara “Tina” Barnes (backing vocalist).

“Playing my father was a life-changing experience. I never thought of myself as an actor, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to play my father. “I feel like I’m going to experience more of his life through this movie and have a better understanding of what he’s going through,” Barrett Jr. said.
