CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Legendary Moeller High School football coach Gerry Faust has died at the age of 89.

Faust, who managed the team for 19 years, was known for his outstanding coaching career, which included seven undefeated seasons.

Under Faust’s leadership, Moeller High School’s football team posted 178 wins, captured four national prep championships and won five state championships. Following his successful tenure at Moeller, Faust went on to coach at Notre Dame and the University of Akron.

“While most people knew him as a coach, we will long remember him as a wonderful father and grandfather who inspired us by example to live our best lives,” Faust’s family said in a statement.
