A Lyons resident was arrested following a domestic incident in Clyde Village, where authorities allege he assaulted a victim at his home. Richie A. Stokes Jr., 36, of Elm Street in Lyon, was taken into custody Monday afternoon following a series of arguments at the residence, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to deputies, Stokes entered the victim’s former home where she currently lives and refused multiple requests to leave. During the incident, he allegedly began dismantling furniture. When the victim tried to stop him, the man reportedly pushed her aside, escalated the confrontation and began choking her as she lay on the ground.

Stokes faces charges of Criminal Asphyxia and second-degree Harassment. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Wayne County Jail, where he awaited arraignment through the Central Arbitration Division, scheduled for Monday evening. The case is currently under investigation.
