MILWAUKEE – The Walgreens store near 91st Street and Appleton Avenue in Milwaukee is scheduled to close Dec. 3.

walgreens The drugstore chain plans to close about 1,200 stores over the next three years as it tries to turn around its struggling U.S. business, which has racked up quarterly losses of $3 billion.

“Now is the time to connect with your healthcare team to seek alternative pharmacy options – whether that means transferring prescriptions to another Walgreens location or exploring nearby non-Walgreens pharmacies,” Alderman Lamont Westmoreland said in a news release.

The Walgreens store near Teutonia and Capitol in Milwaukee closed Jan. 15. Then on November 3, Walgreens stores near 26th and National also closed.

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. Its leaders said in late June that they were finalizing a turnaround plan for their U.S. operations that could result in the closure of hundreds of underperforming stores.
