Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Aamir Khan said, “I decided to quit before Laal Singh Chadha. I was going through my own personal journey. Towards the end of Covid, I suddenly realized that I had spent most of my adult life. All my bandwidth and focus had been since I was 18. It became cinema and cinema.”

Aamir continued: “As a result, I felt like I wasn’t there enough for my relationships – my children, my siblings and my family. Be it Kiran or Reena, when I was married to them, I had enough of these people. This was in the middle of Laal Singh Chadha, because half the film was shot before Covid, The other half happened after that,” the 59-year-old actor continued. “So, in the middle of Covid, I had an emotional moment where I felt like I was giving my whole life to the movies and I wasn’t around my family.”

Reflects on his “crime”Aamir used the following statements that ultimately guided his decision: “I felt a lot of guilt for what I did and I didn’t feel good. And I have done enough films in the last 35 years, I can focus on my family now. Good thing I realized this when I was 56-57 and not 88, then It would be too late, at least I can do something now.”

When asked how he reacted to Kiran Rao’s big decision, Aamir said, “He asked me to come to the balcony to talk alone. He said, ‘You are leaving us.’ I said, ‘No, I am not leaving you, I am. I am leaving cinema,’ he said. ‘You are a child of cinema, if you leave cinema “If you’re leaving, you’re leaving us,” he said.
