Police said that 12 people were injured as a result of the fire, 4 people were injured during the incident, and some were injured while running away from hiding.

Multiple videos posted on social media showed multiple gunshots being heard and people appearing to dive to the ground or hide in vehicles.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s statement announcing the arrest on Sunday did not say whether authorities were still searching for additional suspects, but urged the public to continue sending relevant information to the FBI.

More than one attacker was initially suspected, according to radio transmissions from police officers sent to campus to investigate the shooting.

“There will be two shooters right now, maybe more,” a police officer said in a radio conversation, according to feeds provided by Broadcastify.

In a statement from the university early Sunday, Johnson was described only as a “non-university individual.” The statement also stated that the individual’s parents were also informed.

“Several people, including Tuskegee University students, were injured and are being treated at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery,” the statement said. The statement was included.

State police added hours later that the man killed in the attack was 18 years old. Johnson’s name was announced shortly before midnight on Sunday.

At the request of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, special agents from the ALEA Bureau of Investigation were investigating the shooting as of Sunday.

“Special Agents are still in the process of gathering and reviewing information regarding the sequence of events that ultimately led to the shooting,” ALEA said.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators immediately. Authorities also asked potential witnesses to upload any digital files related to the incident, including video, to the FBI.

University officials said it was “in the process of finalizing students’ responsibilities and informing parents.”

“Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” the university added.

Tuskegee University canceled classes on Monday and announced that grief counselors would be available for students in the school’s chapel.
