Saskatoon police say stabbing unrelated to Santa Claus Parade

A 33-year-old woman was stabbed in downtown Saskatoon on Saturday and police want to clarify it is not linked to the Santa Claus Parade.

In a news release Monday, the Saskatoon Police Service said its serious assault unit is investigating a stabbing that occurred in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South around 1:20 p.m.

Police teams found an injured 33-year-old woman at the scene, and the injured woman, who police said was not life-threatening, was taken to hospital.

Investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other and say the violence did not occur during the Santa Claus Parade that was being held downtown at the time.
