RICHFORD, Wisconsin (WBAY) – The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team is investigating a crash that occurred over the weekend in which a car went into a river.

The 911 center was notified of an accident on 11th Street just before 5:30 Saturday morning. Between Cypress Rd. and County Highway JJ in Richford.

Rescuers found a car submerged in the Mecan River.

The Waupaca Fire Department dive team responded along with the fire department and Waushara County EMS.

The teams found a person in the car and tried to take life-saving measures at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the man died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash. Their names are being withheld until family members are notified.
