Manhunt continues after 16-year-old girl raped in Dundee car park | UK News

A manhunt has been launched after a 16-year-old girl was raped in a small car park in Dundee.

The serious sexual assault occurred after a man approached the teenager in the Cowgate area between 1am and 1.30am on Sunday.

A Policeman Scotland The detective said the area was “busy” at the time of the attack and he appealed to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective Inspector Graeme Wishart said: “We recognize that incidents such as this can cause concern in the local community but please be assured that we are doing everything we can to identify who is responsible.

“A special police team is working intensively on this investigation and footage from security cameras in the area is being collected.

“Officers are also carrying out door-to-door inquiries and speaking to local businesses.

“Specialist officers will continue to support the girl and her family as our investigation continues.”

It was stated that the suspect was around 20 years old, thin and of average height. He was wearing a beige/khaki jacket, black t-shirt, dark pants and light brown boots.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have passed the car park.

Drivers with dashcams were asked to check the footage and report anything of interest.

DI Wishart added: “We understand the significant impact this will have on the local community and officers will remain in the area whilst investigations continue.

“Anyone with any information or concerns can speak to them.

“I am confident the local community has vital information in this investigation and I know residents will want to help, so please get in touch.”
