Will Ole Miss be in the 12-team bracket on Tuesday? (Video)

Will Ole Miss be in the playoff field when the second set of seedings are announced on Tuesday night?

Rebels lead 8-2 Beat Georgia 28-10 at home on Saturday. This win was a testament to Lane Kiffin’s offseason transfer portal efforts; because the Rebels were battered in the trenches by the Bulldogs a season ago. Ole Miss strengthened its defensive line with transfers ahead of the 2024 season and dominated the defensive line in the rain on Saturday.

Ole Miss was ranked No. 16 in the first set of the rankings and is projected to move up significantly on Tuesday. So how meaningful will this leap be?

We think it will be enough to get the Rebels into the predicted play-off group. And Ole Miss could even knock Georgia out of the 12-team field. At least for a week.

Yes, Georgia has a win against Texas, but the Bulldogs now also have losses against both Alabama and Ole Miss. We can’t get anything out of the committee, but it’s hard to see how Georgia could be ahead of one or both teams. Beat the Bulldogs.

The committee could also remove Georgia from the projected top 12 knowing the Bulldogs will return to action with a win in Week 12. Georgia will host Tennessee next weekend. If Georgia loses, it probably won’t make the playoffs with three losses. If he wins, the committee will be able to determine where they want to place the Bulldogs next week.

Here’s what we think the projected playoff field will look like on Tuesday.

It’s hard to see the Ducks being anywhere else but No. 1 again after an easy win over Maryland. Dillon Gabriel broke the all-time FBS record for total touchdowns in the win and will increase that total in the coming weeks.

The Longhorns are in a three-way tie with Tennessee and Texas A&M in the SEC. The Longhorns play the Aggies in the final week of the season, and if each team is 6-1 in conference, then the winner will be in the SEC championship game.

The Cougars looked toasty late in their game against Utah on Saturday night. But when Jake Retzlaff was sacked on fourth down, Utah was flagged for defensive tackle. The penalty gave BYU a first down and the Cougars marched downfield for the game-winning 44-yard drive with three seconds left. and a 22-21 victory.

We don’t think Miami will fall below SMU in Tuesday’s rankings After losing to Georgia Tech. The Mustangs had Saturday off and started the weekend nine points below the Hurricanes. It could be close, though, and we wouldn’t be completely shocked if SMU were in this spot.

The Broncos took care of business at home against Nevada as Ashton Jeanty had 34 carries for 209 yards and three scores. Ohio State had an easy home win against a Purdue team that was the worst in the Big Ten.

This would be a rematch of the Peach Bowl from a season ago. Ole Miss won that game, and you can make a strong case that both teams were better in different ways. The Rebels’ defense is now in strong shape and the Penn State offense looked much better despite struggling against Ohio State in Week 10.

Notre Dame dominated a hapless Florida State team on Saturday night. We think they might fall into a spot just based on their strength. Alabama win over LSU. Tennessee defeated Mississippi State at home and hopes to have Nico Iamaleava at full strength next week against Georgia.

What an unexpected and entertaining playoff matchup this could be. After Indiana moved up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 on Sunday, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Hoosiers a spot or two higher in the CFP rankings. But the 20-15 home win over Michigan might have been a little too close for comfort for the Hoosiers to consider a jump. Regardless, we think an 11-1 regular season will get Indiana into the playoffs.
