SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Authorities have released the identity of a Hartford man killed in a motorcycle crash in Minnehaha County.

There was an accident last thursday Around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 42, nine miles west of Sioux Falls.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, 56-year-old Kellin DeVries was riding his motorcycle west on Highway 42.

At the same time, the driver of a pickup truck was heading east and tried to pass the vehicle in front of them. Authorities said the pickup truck was heading into the westbound lane and hit the motorcycle head-on.

DeVries died at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 19-year-old from Sioux Falls, suffered minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

No charges had been filed when the DPS news release was sent.
