CHICAGO – Christian and Jewish leaders gathered in Chicago on Saturday Near North Sideraises alarms due to a recent increase in antisemitic incidents.

The summit on opposing anti-Semitism was held at Moody Bible Institute and was attended by hundreds of Christians, Jewish students, leaders and scholars.

Julianna Pelo was among those who reacted to the Hamas-led attack in Israel in which thousands of people died on both sides.

Then, earlier this week, two Jewish students were attacked at DePaul University for expressing support for Israel.

Participants took notes and learned ways to respond to hate. Speakers pointed out how antisemitism manifests itself in words and actions.

Pelo, a Moody graduate, plans to return to Israel next month and is seeking support at the summit.

“I wanted to get more training before I went and process the reality of what I was going to see,” Pelo said.

Moody Bible Institute, which has been fighting against antisemitism for more than 100 years, ended the event with a concert.
