SEATTLE — A man was accused of a crime Stabbing spree in Chinatown-International District(CID) went to trial, where a judge found probable cause for five counts of first-degree assault.

The judge set the suspect’s bail at $2 million, citing a high likelihood that he would commit a violent crime in the community. Police say only one of the stabbings was motivated by robbery, while the other four were completely random.

Seattle City Council Member and CID community watch volunteer Tanya Woo echoed the community’s fear: “It’s really scary to see this footage of someone coming up behind you and attacking you, and then people falling. So people deserve to feel safe.”

Court documents revealed the victims suffered stab wounds to their neck, back and face. Four of the five victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center, three in serious condition and one in satisfactory condition.

Prosecutors highlighted the suspect’s extensive criminal history, noting nine felony convictions and nearly 30 misdemeanor convictions over the past decade. While witnesses said the attacks were unprovoked, Kevin Greiner recalled: “I see a man stab him in the back with a big knife, the knife is stuck in his back.”

In addition to these incidents, it was learned that five more people were stabbed in separate attacks in the same area from early Thursday to early Friday morning. The total number of victims increased to 10. Police are investigating whether the suspect is connected to all the stabbings.

Community members expressed the profound impact of the violence, with one saying: “This adds to the trauma and I think enough is enough and I hope this brings attention to the fact that this community really needs resources and help to rebuild.”

The prosecutor’s office is waiting for charging decisions next week and the suspect’s next hearing will be held on November 14.
