The league ejected Lions safety Brian Branch for an illegal hit in Sunday’s game against the Packers. On his way to the locker room, Branch flashed a two-fisted and middle-finger salute to the crowd.

The branch was fined for both actions.

Penalties matched. $10,128 was paid for the illegal shooting and another $10,128 for the double-barreled action.

It’s odd that a safety rule would trigger the same penalty as a rule against taking certain actions. Regardless, Branch will earn $20,256. Objection is expected.

He’ll be back on Sunday night when the Lions take on the Texans in Houston on NBC and Peacock.
