Donald Trump wins Nevada and AP projects

Trump clinched a second term early Wednesday when Wisconsin passed him over the 270 delegate votes needed to win him, thus Nevada’s six electoral delegate votes only increased the size of his victory: He now has 301 delegate votes and has won six of seven battleground states . All that’s left is for Arizona to be called up.

Nevada is a very important swing state

Nevada has played a significant role in the last few elections, and this year was no different.

“One of the reasons why Nevada is so important is that there are close margins between Republicans and Democrats in statewide elections, and that depends largely on each camp’s ability to determine who comes to vote, so this is a really important mobilization game,” said the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebecca Gill, associate professor at , told FOX Television Stations.

Nevada has one of the nation’s best performance records as a presidential primary. The candidate who wins the state has also won the White House in 28 of the last 30 presidential elections. Votes were cast for the losing candidate only in 1908, 1976 and 2016, when Democrat Hillary Clinton carried the state. Democrats have won Nevada in the last four presidential elections.
