The Herman Miller Aeron positions itself as a premium, office-style gaming chair where ergonomics come to the fore, and it really strives to deliver. The Herman Miller Aeron Gaming Chair comes in two sizes. Unlike its office counterpart, it is not as configurable and not made to order, but it is cheaper. The Herman Miller Office Aeron, which has chair recline, adjustable lumbar support and 3D armrests, costs $1,995 / £1,558, but you can opt for less adjustability to bring that price down a bit. However, the Aeron Gaming chair does not confuse us with its configuration options. This is a single price point of £1,371 / $1,805.

There’s a Herman Miller premium attached no matter which configuration you choose, but I appreciate the fact that both sizes come at the same price. Also a little cheaper Herman Miller x Logitech Emobdy gaming chair also ($1,995 / £1,570).

Highly adjustable

The first thing I noticed when unboxing the Herman Miller Aeron—fully built, I might add—was its retro design. The intense curvature of the frame makes it look like it was designed for a ’60s minimalist mansion. The mesh backrest and seat mean it could easily fit into a corporate office, but I’ve never seen such streamlined contraptions before. It’s as if the armrests are melting like a clock in a Dali painting. Still, it’s an attractive chair if you prefer a corporate feel.

No color options, just jet black and that’s your destiny. There is no option to have bright color configurations like Herman Miller x Logitech Vantumfor example, but much more refined and modest.

As well as adjustable forward tilt and adjustability for something called PostureFit. Actually, that’s just a fancy word for a lumbar support, which sits behind your back and has a nifty little roller handle used to push it in. While the mechanisms provide a tremendous amount of movement, they miss a few things that other, cheaper chairs can still achieve. to submit. There are a few things you want a gaming chair to do other than be comfortable. You want the mechanisms to be intuitive and safe, fit on your desk, and be sturdy. Herman Miller Aeron Gaming Chair does all this without any problems. After sitting on it for a week straight, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed using it. None of the mechanisms are cumbersome and all are relatively intuitive. Their silicone handles also give them a nice premium feel, meaning they don’t slip out of your hand when you use them.

There’s a nice bounce to the Aeron that’s very satisfying when you sit down. This isn’t like the noise of sitting in an average office chair; It was also thought that giving her stern suspension was considered. Not once did I feel shaky or unstable the entire time I sat in it. There is zero rattle on the arms, which are extremely well padded and have great Y-axis rotation. They also slide all the way back so you can stand up against the table. The arms slide forward without locking, which can be a problem for some chairs, but they’re not as easy to pinch your fingers in as, say, the Herman Miller Vantum. There’s a slow, purposeful step towards all the mechanisms that truly exemplifies the impressive build quality.

The main issues I had were with the plastic surrounding the backrest and the bucket style seat. Due to the lack of a headrest, I found myself hooking my fingers behind my head to compensate. The problem is that I seem to be at the right height for my shoulder blades to dig in later. It may be worth checking the exact back height and where your shoulder blades rest before purchasing; Fortunately, the chair is the same price whether you choose small, medium or large.

Similarly, whenever I try to shove my food under me, I’m hindered by the plastic surround of the bucket seat that curves upward around my backside. Essentially, its ergonomic skill comes from forcing you to sit in a certain position to avoid disrupting your posture. Clever, but not the best for a clumsy sitter like me.

The fact that the Aeron comes with no assembly required is also a blessing, especially if you can’t spare the time for assembly. For your average gaming chair, this could be 30 minutes to an hour. Who has money to spare during a busy day of ergonomic games?

How I tested the Herman Miller Aeron gaming chair

Tested for several weeks
