Young Kayaker Trying to Paddle the Big Loop Clockwise

Peter Frank, 23, embarks on a rare rowing journey as he attempts to complete a clockwise journey on the Great Loop. The young man began his frightening 6,000-mile journey in June. As his journey continues, he plans to spend a few more months paddling. A trip of this size is usually completed by motorized boaters in a counterclockwise direction.

This spectacular loop takes paddlers “from the Gulf and Intra-Atlantic Coastal Waterways to the Erie Canal, Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, and the Mississippi and Tennessee River.” National Geographic. Since Frank’s journey is clockwise, he will be rowing against the current for most of his adventure, making the already difficult journey even more difficult.

Accordingly ExplorersWebFrank rows about 10 miles every day. He carries his own supplies, including tents, food and emergency equipment. Along the way, he spends most of his nights camping and eating dehydrated food. Sometimes he will be lucky enough to have a shower and fresh food.

This isn’t Peter Frank’s first long-distance rowing trip. ExplorersWeb highlighted his 2021 adventure, in which he unicycled from Wisconsin to Arizona, equating to approximately 2,362 miles. The following year he also began rowing on the Mississippi River.

on frank websiteShe wrote a compelling statement explaining why she does what she does: “One day, I would like to achieve the ability to be my happiest and highest self. Although I believe we can never be perfect, I believe we can always get better. We spend the precious and limited time we have on earth.” It’s important for me to spend money, share a positive message, and spread the love shown to me by documenting my journeys and writing down my experiences.”

Frank received support from various sponsors for this trip, including Swayer, Falcon Sails, Zero Six Zero, Red Leaf Designs and Oscar Propulsion.
