68-year-old woman was found dead in a freezer after hiring workers to help her with maintenance work at her home

LAS VEGAS (KVVU/Gray News) – A woman was found dead in a freezer and a person has been arrested in connection with her death.

Daniel Roush, 37, is facing charges after a woman’s body was found in a mobile home earlier this week, according to Las Vegas police.

police said I received a call about a missing woman around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. Citizens in the neighborhood said that their 68-year-old neighbor suddenly disappeared and had not been seen walking with his dog since the end of October.

Arriving officers said no one answered the front door of the mobile home at first, but once inside they encountered two men acting suspiciously.

The police detained the people in the house for questioning, who said they did not know where the woman was.

Police searched the mobile home and found a locked freezer. Officers called a locksmith to open the freezer, revealing the woman’s body inside.

One of the people questioned, Roush, was detained by police and charged with open murder.

Neighbors said the woman had lived in the mobile home park community for more than 20 years and had hired two people to help with some chores around her home.

Neighbor Christine Marshall said she had known the woman for 20 years and said she was almost too kind and open to strangers.

“He was very open to giving a lot of information,” he said. “I told the police last night that every crook is in for a real payday. He’d probably give them anything they wanted. He didn’t deserve that.”

The two workers later began living in the woman’s mobile home, but when their medication was stolen, neighbors said they were kicked out.

Another neighbor said the woman told them a few weeks ago that she was worried two workers might come back and hurt her.

The identity of the woman, as well as the cause and manner of death, are awaited by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
