Missing man found dead under West Lincoln Railroad overpass, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man who was reported missing in September was found dead on the West Lincoln railroad track on Monday.

Lincoln Police responded to a report of a body found under the Highway 77 overpass at BNSF Hobson Yard, 801 West O Street, around 3:30 p.m.

The man reported missing on September 11 has been identified as 34-year-old Michael Atkins of Lexington. LPD notified next of kin.

LPD said an autopsy was performed Wednesday. Atkins’ death does not appear to be suspicious, but the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.
