Govee electric space heaters recalled due to fire and burn risks

More than half a million electric space heaters used recalled U.S. consumer safety officials said they had the potential to pose an overheating, fire and burn hazard.

GoveeLife and Govee Smart Electric Space Heaters were sold directly by Amazon, TikTok Shop, and Govee between September 2021 and September 2024, Govee announced on November 7. US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The CPSC said there were 113 reports of overheating, including seven reports of fires and one report of minor burn injuries.

“Testing determined that smart electric space heaters do not comply with UL 1278, a voluntary industry safety standard, and pose a risk of overheating and fire due to their wireless control features,” the recall notice states.

Govee heater recall: What you need to know

Approximately 512,500 heaters were recalled in the United States and approximately 48,600 in Canada. These were sold for between $30 and $150, according to the recall notice.

The recall includes GoveeLife and Govee smart electric heaters with Model Numbers H7130 (including variation H7130101), H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134 and H7135. The model number is located on the manufacturer’s label on the underside of each unit.

“GoveeLife” or “Govee” is printed on the front or side of each unit.

The recall notice states that the heaters are sold in black and white and range in height from 9 inches to 26 inches, depending on the model.

The CPSC said they were manufactured in China.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled electric heaters and contact the brands for a refund,” the agency said. he said.

According to the agency, consumers who do not have the original order number will receive a refund ranging from $31.80 to $106.63, depending on the model purchased.

Those in possession of the original order number will receive a full refund of the purchase price.
