OnePlus 13 likely to launch soon: 8 things you need to know before it comes to India

OnePlus 13 has been launched in China and is expected to reach global markets soon; It is likely to be released in early 2025. Although an exact date has not been confirmed, there is a possibility that the OnePlus 13 could launch, considering the OnePlus 12 was introduced in January 2024. around the same time next year. While we await official confirmation of the launch timeline, here are 8 important things to know before the OnePlus 13 arrives in India.

OnePlus 13 to launch soon: 8 things you need to know before it comes to India

Regenerative design?

The OnePlus 13 may look a bit similar to the OnePlus 12 but it comes with a refreshing look. It comes with a new paint job that includes subtle changes to the rear panel design. On the back, you’ll still see the same circular camera module with four sensors. The edges and the screen are now flat instead of curved. The new version looks a little thinner and is available in leather or glass covering options. It is sold in China in Blue (leather), Obsidian (glass) and White (glass) shades. The silver accent on the rear camera module blends in with the side frames, giving it a good contrast look. There is also a thin silver coating next to the rear camera setup. So, all these small changes that we can see from the official images of OnePlus 13 are quite noticeable and reveal that the successor of OnePlus 12 offers users a newer look.

Image changes?

The company offers a screen similar to OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 12. It’s good to see OnePlus not following Apple and making the screen even larger. You get the same 6.82-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution. You’ll also see the same 1,600 nits brightness in high brightness mode and 4,500 nits in peak brightness. So you get a solid screen just like the OnePlus 12. But there are also two big changes.

One of the most important additions is the ability to use the device while wearing gloves; This is a much-needed addition, especially in the cold Delhi winters when using a phone without gloves can be difficult.

OnePlus 13 also has a native high refresh rate feature, which means the display can run at different refresh rates. For example, the device can display a YouTube video at a lower refresh rate and offer 60Hz/90Hz/120Hz support while scrolling through the comments section or other videos on the platform.

New flagship chipset?

The new OnePlus flagship phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset based on 3nm process. Therefore, it should be more efficient and offer solid performance. OnePlus claims that users will get a smoother experience with the new hardware and OxygenOS 15 software; We will test this once the device is launched in India.

Bigger battery? Better charging capabilities?

One of the biggest innovations is in the battery. OnePlus 13 comes with a much larger unit. It has a 6,000 mAh battery instead of the 5,400 mAh unit seen on the OnePlus 12. OnePlus claims that users will get almost 2 days of battery life and we will test this when it comes to India. It has the same support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. An interesting thing to note here is that OnePlus is offering magnetic wireless charging (via cases) this year. We may see the magnetic 100W power bank accessory here but nothing is confirmed. \

Camera upgrades?

The OnePlus 13 retains the 50-megapixel LYT-808 main camera from the OnePlus 12 but upgrades the telephoto and ultrawide lenses to 50 megapixels. There is also Hasselblad branding, 4K/60 fps Dolby Vision video and a 32-megapixel front camera. OnePlus 12 offered good enough camera performance for its price, and the new version is expected to offer much better performance. We’d love to see low-light photos of it, as the company boasts about it in China.

Is it waterproof?

No, it’s not waterproof, but the new OnePlus 13 has both IP68 and IP69 ratings. So the first one basically means that the device can survive in over 1 meter of water for about an hour. An IP69 rating means the flagship can withstand high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning. In short, you do not have to worry about it being damaged by water.

Biometrics?

This time you will have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Thus, OnePlus 13 will be able to accurately register your fingerprints and unlock the device with wet hands. There’s also a new vibration engine that the company claims will offer users “gamepad-level feedback.”

Software

OnePlus 13 runs on OxygenOS 15, which is based on the latest Android 15 operating system. There is currently no information regarding the software update policy. But going back to the previous version, the OnePlus 13 could get four years of major Android OS support and five years of security patches.
