Outlook Classic crashes for some users

Microsoft shared the error message: “Sorry, we’re having trouble opening this item. This may be temporary, but if you see it again, you may want to restart Outlook. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.”

Users may also see a different pop-up: “Insufficient memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.

While the company appears to be working on a fix right now, any workaround could present its own set of challenges. “Increasing the process quota may lead to general system instability,” Microsoft said, suggesting that broader system instability could be the result of any system settings.

The cause of the issue is not confirmed, but Microsoft has stated that user interface objects may be responsible for the sudden crash of Outlook Classic.

In addition to limiting the number of emails they open or increasing the transaction quota for user objects, users will have to wait for Microsoft to release a patch.
