WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead inside a pickup truck at the Arkansas River Canoe Launch in the 3500 block of East 71st Street South near Derby on Wednesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the area just before 4 p.m. Wednesday and were “directed to a heavily wooded area where the pickup and body were located.”

The sheriff’s office identified the man found dead in the truck as 54-year-old Shane D. Watts of the Wichita area.

“Initial examinations revealed no signs of trauma on his body, and the cause of death is being investigated. The sheriff’s office said the investigation will continue until the results of the autopsy and toxicology tests.
