Woman Says She Roasted Chicken for Homemade Food

One woman said she ended up bringing something store-bought to a home-cooked meal, and her sister didn’t like it.

One last post On Reddit’s “I Am A—-,” a 25-year-old woman said that her 28-year-old sister and a group of friends from high school meet every month to “chat together and have dinner together.”

“They met at my sister’s house this month and she asked me if I wanted to join them,” the woman wrote.

The only rule, according to his sister, was that “he had to bring a home-cooked meal.”

“One of the purposes of these meetings is to give them a reason to cook something and take a break from fast food,” the woman wrote.

But things didn’t go as planned.

“I was supposed to fry chicken but honestly forgot to defrost it,” she wrote. “So I bought rotisserie chicken on the way to my sister’s house.”

“I didn’t act like I made it, I was honest, none of his friends cared and I didn’t buy KFC,” he added.

But her sister wasn’t having it.

“However, my sister looked uncomfortable and when we were alone for a while, she told me that I should have warned them when I realized I couldn’t cook and that it was rude for me to come here for the first time. already disrespecting their own group’s rules,” the woman wrote.

Unfortunately, the majority of Reddit commenters agree.

“You had one job,” one commenter succinctly wrote, while another added: “You completely missed the point of the group. You look careless for completely ignoring what your sister said.”

Other commenters said they needed more information about the situation.

“I also wonder when you realized you forgot to defrost the chicken,” one response read. “Like, when I’m about to go out and I’m like, ‘F—, I was supposed to cook that chicken!?’ Did he realize? Or did he realize his mistake hours before the meeting, when he still had time to get something else together?”

Another reviewer, meanwhile, pointed out that there are plenty of other quick meals you can throw together. “If you forgot to defrost it, you should have turned to another homemade meal,” they wrote. “You could have made mac and cheese or something.”

Although some commenters thought some were reading too much into the situation — “a meal is not a matter of life or death,” read one response — as others have pointed out, it seems pretty clear that no matter what you think, there is one conclusion.

As one commenter noted, “girl, you won’t be invited anymore.”
