One person has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing in Fort McMurray.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a stabbing in the Thickwood neighborhood at 12:53 a.m. Tuesday.

It was determined that the 21-year-old woman died at the scene.

Police said the person who attacked the woman left the scene but was found in the city center a short time later.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the woman’s death.

An autopsy performed on Wednesday revealed that the woman’s death was a homicide.
