Relating to:

Within 24 hours of completing a county poll, clerks must send a certified, copied statement of all nonlocal race results to the State Board of Canvassers.

They also must send a certificate of authenticity signed by both the clerk and the county surveyor to Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

The work of all 83 county election boards is now complete, with the race results then going before the State Board of Canvassers.

The four-member panel, consisting of two Democrats and two Republicans, will need to meet, review and approve the results by November 25 at the latest.

State pollsters must then “promptly” prepare a certified certification to be sent to the secretary of state, strengthening Michigan’s election results.

Because this is a presidential election, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was tasked with an additional step in the process: issuing a “certificate of determination.”

This certification is an official document that identifies Michigan’s designated electors for president and vice president, as well as the final number of votes for each candidate in the popular vote in the state.
