As the top seed in the 12th district volleyball tournament, Our Redeemer’s Christian School worked every aspect of the court in the opening set of the championship match against the very talented and evenly matched South Prairie-Max Royals.

The energy of the opening frame, with constant lead changes and ties, carried the Knights to a 25-21 win and a 1-0 lead.

The second set was much more balanced and the teams moved the score from 0-0 to 6-6 without any separation. South Prairie-Max took a 12-9 lead when Our Redeemer’s timeout was called.

Despite keeping pace with the Royals, serious net play from South Prairie-Max gave them the advantage until the Royals scored 25-20 in the second frame and finished the contest at 1-1.

South Prairie-Max got up early with a 4-0 lead in the third frame only to see the Knights break back into a 7-7 tie. The same draw from 7-7 until the later stages kept fans guessing. The Royals took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win, and the crowd began to feel the upset of the second-seeded team against the top-seeded Knights.

The South Prairie-Max team’s split didn’t start all at once in the fourth frame, but a lead was held throughout the entire set and the Royals won the third frame over the Knights, 25-19, to capture their 12th district title. .

South Prairie-Max senior Azjiah Trader was critical at times at the net with 25 kills, five blocks and 16 digs. Keira Francis recorded nine kills, Skotti Beck seven and Abby Kikkelson six kills.

Reagan Trudell had 3 aces and 40 assists as the volleys between the two teams were long and intense.

Delaney Hankel had 16 digs in the game while Mikkelson added four blocks.

The consolation bracket matched the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers against the Glenburn Panthers in the first game of the 12th region tournament on Monday, November 4.

Glenburn took a 4-0 lead in the first set, allowing the Lakers to adjust and tie the match. The Panthers again took an 11-6 lead and the Lakers tied the game again at 14-14.

The Lakers continued this frustrating game and fought back to take a 19-16 lead in the tight frame to win 25-22.

The Lakers took an early lead in the second frame, giving the Panthers a break as Des Lacs-Burlington took a 7-0 lead.

After the timeout, the Lakers took a 10-3 lead and the Panthers called a timeout again. This time Glenburn took the lead before making the score 17-17 and finishing strongly to win 25-21, making it 1-1 for each team. equalized the score.

The Lakers took the lead in both the third and fourth frames, winning the third 25-15 and the fourth 25-13.

Des Lacs-Burlington was led by Kaylee Werner with 33 assists, 21 digs and a pair of aces. Logen Ystaas had 15 kills and 13 digs for the Lakers, while Piper Feller added 12 kills and a block in the win.

Halley Goetz had 11 digs and an ace, while Ava Brown added nine kills and a block for Des Lacs-Burlington in the game.

The match was two separate contests; The first two frames saw Berthold hold the court and struggle with even results to start each frame but won by scores of 25-16 in both the first and second frames.

The second contest was the final three frames where Surrey adjusted and gained momentum, winning 25-19 in the third frame, 25-16 in the fourth frame and the final 15-8 in the fifth frame. 2 wins.

Surrey was led by Kenzie Neighbors, who had 16 kills and 15 digs. Khloe Spaulding added 15 digs and eight kills with five blocks at the net. Alexa Ryals had 20 assists and Avery Gree had 9 assists and 15 possessions.

Makya Gerding had four kills, five blocks and three aces for the Mustangs, while Morgan Andersen had 13 digs. Camryn Guy added three kills while Ava Keller had three blocks for Surrey.
