Taruna explained that BPOM’s National Drug and Food Testing Center (PPPOMN) uses the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MSMS) method for Chlorpyrifos residue testing. The laboratory’s sensitivity, demonstrated by a Limit of Detection (LOD) of 0.02 micrograms per kilogram (ug/kg) and Limit of Quantification (LOQ) of 0.07 micrograms per kilogram (ug/kg), ensures reliable results.

Taruna emphasized that the testing process includes both qualitative and quantitative analysis. “Traces of residue may be present qualitatively but are below the quantitatively detectable threshold. “Essentially, these are insignificant and can be easily eliminated with cleaning practices,” he explained.
