Bruce Tate’s family calls for justice in emotional press conference

Arkansas Stop the Violence held a press conference Sunday evening for the family of Bruce Tate, a Sherwood man who was found dead in North Little Rock after suffering multiple injuries earlier last week.

No suspect has yet been found in the case.

Family members of the late Bruce Tate gathered at Shiloh Baptist Church in North Little Rock to send a message to those responsible for his death and anyone who knows what happened.

“Imagine if this is your family, you want the problem resolved and that’s all we want. You know, we want justice for our father,” said Courtney Tate.

Bruce Tate, 78, was a man known for his kind spirit and love of his community.

“Dad was loving. He made us laugh. I was a daddy’s girl, so that affected me as you know, the person who took him from us will never, ever understand,” said his daughter, Rehonda Tate.

“There are so many different things I wish I had told him when he was alive that I won’t have the opportunity to say now. My father was very loved,” said Courtney.

Bruce Tate was a man who lost his life due to violence and left behind a devastated family.

“You’re desperately trying to make sense of it. That’s why we can’t understand. Why? Who? There are so many unanswered questions. Because if you wanted his wallet, he would have given it to you. If he wanted his truck, he would have given it to you. There was no need to brutally kill him. That’s why we’re here today, in the midst of our pain.” “We come to speak to the people of Arkansas, our home,” Rehonda said.

Although the North Little Rock Police Department launched an investigation, Stop the Arkansas Violence helped Bruce’s wife and family appeal to the public to find out who was responsible.

“The spy culture is damaging and destroying families because today it’s our family, it’s just randomly our family. So tomorrow it could be your family. It could be the family of someone you love. That’s why we’re begging people to come forward. Because I doubt this will be the last time someone takes the person they love away from them.” said Rehonda.

The family says that there will always be a piece of them missing, but what they want most now is to be complete.

“The man they took from us is a father, a grandfather, a great man, and that’s a void we’re going to have for a very long time,” Rehonda said.

“It wasn’t even an accident, at least it was an accident, you know, it’s safe to say it wasn’t an accident. It was a premeditated, bloody murder. And not just murder, it was extreme murder. This was beyond extreme. This was beyond extreme,” said Courtney. “The person who did this does not deserve to breathe another breath of free air,” he said.

Bruce Tate’s memorial service will be held next weekend.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the NLRPD tip line at 501-680-8439.
