On October 29, when a man went to get a camera from his car parked in the Housing Development Board’s (HDB) multi-storey car park, he was shocked to find out that his car was missing.

When she realized her car was actually gone and probably stolen, she immediately called the police.

Shin Min He reported that the incident occurred at around 23.30 on October 29 at the multi-storey car park in Sengkang West Road Block 457.

The car owner, Huang, and his wife had parked the car on the second floor of the parking lot around 7:30 pm when they returned home.

When he returned to get his camera around 23.30, he found another car where he parked and was surprised.

Huang said Shin Min He said he called his wife to confirm where they parked the car.

Huang shared with Chinese media that they usually open their car door with a key, which occasionally triggers the alarm.

So sometimes they leave the car unlocked with the key inside.

After Huang reported the theft, several police officers arrived at the scene to investigate.

Two police officers quickly stopped the car and instructed the driver to stop and exit the vehicle.

Huang saw six young people, five boys and one girl, get out of the car and sit together on the side.

Huang learned that the youths resided around Punggol and were confused as to why they had come to Sengkang to steal a car. Shin Min reported.

Huang also discovered that the teenagers took their friends out for fun after allegedly stealing the car.

Huang’s wife also said the teenagers were “not malicious car thieves, just naughty ones”: “There were no signs of scratches on the car, and we were relieved that nothing serious happened while they were driving it.”

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they were alerted to a case of motor vehicle theft at Block 457, Sengkang West Road, at 12:05am on 30 October.

Five boys aged between 14 and 16 and a 13-year-old girl were arrested for motor vehicle theft.

A joint duster and e-vaporizer were also found in their possession.

A 16-year-old male youth will also assist with investigations into possession of an offensive weapon.

The crime related to the e-vaporizer has been transferred to the Health Sciences Institution and investigations are continuing.
