If you plan to glide through Cataract Canyon Canyonlands National ParkWatch out: Another major sediment in Cataract Canyon changed the flow of water in the main channel and created a new minor stream.

The collapse occurred in Narrow Canyon at river mile 175.1 between October 25 and October 29. Approximately 300-350 meters of shoreline shifted from the left bank of the river towards the river channel.

Sediment and mud continue to shift and alter river conditions for three miles upstream of the depression. Due to rapidly changing conditions, Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) must be worn between Dark Canyon and the North Wash Access point.
