12-year-old Kaufman County boy missing since July 4 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

You may have heard your phone ring with a Public Safety Alert Saturday night when Crandall police issued an AMBER Alert for a child last seen on the Fourth of July.

Police said 12-year-old Connor Young was last seen in the 1800 block of Lolita Way in Heartland, an unincorporated community in Kaufman County about 25 miles from Dallas.

Young was last seen with Dorcas Young, 42, and police said they believed the child may be in serious or imminent danger.

NBC 5 reached out to Crandall police to ask why the AMBER Alert was issued 120 days after the child was last seen.

Crandall police said they received a call on Oct. 30 from an AT&T employee reporting that he had been sending mental health-related messages to Dorcas Young. When officers went to his Heartland home, no one appeared to be home. Police said Kaufman County “pinged” his phone, which appeared to be in the area of Park Lane and North Central Expressway in Dallas.

Police said Dorcas Young’s 24-year-old daughter came to the Crandall Police Department on Nov. 2 to report her mother and two siblings, ages 19 and 12, missing.

Crandall police say Dorcas Young’s black 2023 GMC Yukon was found at a Dallas hotel last Saturday night and officers were still trying to locate Young and the two children.

Connor Young stands 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Dorcas Young also stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds.

The AMBER alert has been activated for 39 counties, mostly in North Texas.
