Woman arrested in Watsonville stabbing – Santa Cruz Sentinel

WATSONVILLE — A 24-year-old Watsonville man suffered multiple stab wounds Friday afternoon, and police arrested the suspected attacker a short time later.

The stabbing was reported to the Watsonville Police Department in the 100 block of Second Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. Friday. The victim was taken to a trauma center outside the city and is expected to recover there, according to the department’s social media post.

In the same area, officers found an 18-year-old woman, identified as Emily Garcia of Watsonville, allegedly hiding in the backseat of a parked car. Police stated that the two were “in a relationship.” Garcia was remanded to Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail on suspicion of charges including domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. In a short video clip posted online by the department, officers are seen walking Garcia, barefoot in a T-shirt and shorts, to a waiting patrol car.

Police have not released any additional details, including a possible motive.
