Little boy accidentally left in car dies: SCSO

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is investigating an allegation that a toddler was unintentionally left in a car parked at a school.

SCSO was called to South Sumter Middle School around 4:18 pm on Friday for a report of a child dead.

The investigation revealed that a 15-month-old baby was accidentally left in a vehicle parked at the school.

The child was with a family member and was supposed to be dropped off at day care, but the family member allegedly forgot about this and went to the middle school.

Later in the day, the child was found dead in the vehicle.

The investigation continues in coordination with the Forensic Medicine Institute and the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“This is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the child’s family,” SCSO said in a press release.

As allegations mount that the DeSantis administration is misusing taxpayer money to influence voters on abortion and marijuana issues, a political communications expert says the state’s actions are merely unprecedented but dangerous.
