Essentially Emily Bridges (@livingbesidetheseaside) whole Renovated two-bedroom house in Brighton is a DIY project, but one of the projects he is most proud of is painting the exterior himself.

“I paid around £120 for paint instead of £1,000 for a decorator to do it,” says Emily. The conditions were pretty perfect because he already had scaffolding outside his house and he didn’t need to climb a freestanding ladder to do it.

With the help of a friend on the first day, and despite “a little tearful moment in the second floor row at the back of the house when she was so fed up,” Emily took the house from dreary (and dirty) to cheerful.

Emily especially says the front door looks like the final piece of the puzzle. “It was very ugly before: stained, old UPVC,” he says.

He chose pastel colored paints.

“I waited until all the building work was done because I knew it would be trashed and it still brings me joy every time I come home!” continues. Emily chose soft sea foam meets mint green (Dulux’s Bamboo Handle) for exterior paint and salmon pink (Marshall’s Sunset Kiss) for door paint.

“I had budgeted for a new door but it is so expensive that spending it elsewhere means I can’t justify it,” Emily said writes on Instagram. “Replacing the handle fixed the broken part, the paint did the rest!”

Flooring upgraded at the entrance.

Emily was actually planning to keep the previous flooring. “The old plain red ones were boring but nice,” he said writes on Instagram. But after a tiring problem had to tear them apart, he seized the opportunity to make a choice. new tiles that add a little pattern.
