Hugh Freeze’s Massive Initiative: Auburn Football Scholarship Tracker

I’m taking a look at this Auburn Tigers Of the 23 scholarship seniors (not counting Brian Battie), only four were high school signees who were with the program throughout their college careers. Three of them were brought by Gus Malzahn. Oscar Chapman, Brandon FrazierAnd Luke Agreement – during Jarquez Hunter He is the only player on the roster for Bryan Harsin’s 2021 signing class.

Keionte Scott While Harsin was the only senior to have a middle school signature, Eugene Asante And Jayson Jones They are the only seniors on the roster that Harsin signed through the transfer portal. In total, Malzahn added three 2024 seniors and Harsin added four.

In just his second season, Hugh Freeze is responsible for bringing in 16 of the 23 scholarship seniors.

Izavion Miller came from junior colleges, while the other 15 transferred: Payton Thorne (Michigan State), Jerrin Thompson (Texas), KeAndre Lambert-Smith (Penn State), Austin Keys (Ole Miss), Dorian Mausi Jr (Duke), Rivaldo Fairweather (Florida Atlantic), Robert Lewis (Georgia State), Isaiah Raikes (USC), Jalen McLeod (Appalachian State), Fa’Najae Gotay (Maryland), Griffin Speaks* (Baylor), Percy Lewis (Mississippi State), Ronan Chambers ( Akron), Trill Carter (Texas) and Philip Blidi (Indiana). *Speaks was a player who earned a scholarship ahead of the 2024 season.

When we look at Auburn’s scholarship students, we see that most of them were brought in by Freeze. There are only 18 scholarship juniors, two of whom were former candidates: Justin Jones and Sean Jackson.

Tate Johnson, Jeremiah Wright and Zykeivous Walker signed with Malzahn in the 2020 class.

Damari Alston, Camden Brown and Caleb Wooden signed with Harsin in the 2022 class.

The other nine young people were brought in by Freeze. Laquan Robinson, Champ Anthony and Quientrail Jamison-Travis are among the college signings, while Sam Jackson V (California), Keyron Crawford (Arkansas State), Jahquez Robinson (Colorado), Dillon Wade (Tulsa), Jaden Muskrat (Tulsa) and Gage Keys He came to Auburn via the (Kansas) transfer portal.

Looking at Auburn’s scholarships, six of the upperclassmen were high school signees with Malzahn and four were high school signees with Harsin. Harsin brought in a player from junior college and a pair of players who committed as recruits to Auburn went on to earn scholarships.

Freeze, meanwhile, brought in 25 juniors and seniors — four from junior college and 21 from the transfer portal.

Looking at the contributors at each position, Freeze appears to make up the bulk of the signees. (It should be noted that the list below is not a depth chart. This is a list of cut-off contributors that does not include all scholarship players).

In the second year, That Freeze signed an incredible 62 of its 82 scholarship players. Just two years after his firing, Harsin was responsible for just 14 scholarship players. And only nine of those 14 were high school signees. Two of them were ordinary people, one was a college signee, and two were from the portal.

Only six Malzahn players are still on campus.

Gus Malzahn appears to have nearly as many players left at Auburn as Harsin. There is no denying the extent of the damage Harsin has done to the Auburn roster during his short tenure. Freeze has just begun to dig Auburn out of the hole.

However Another top 10 recruiting class on the way.The talent at Auburn is unquestionably on the rise.
