WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — As we enter the final official month of hurricane season, conditions in the Caribbean will be favorable for tropical development over the next few weeks.

The National Hurricane Center on Wednesday gives a moderate chance of something forming within the next seven days. WPTV First Alert Weather meteorologist James Wieland said it’s too early to tell if there will be any impact on Florida other than a continuation of the winds we have now.

“In the area in the Caribbean Sea, there is nothing at the moment. But maybe in the next few days or three days a low pressure area will develop in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. It is slowly drifting towards the Caribbean Sea.” Greater Antilles,” said WPTV First Alert Weather meteorologist Jennifer Correa.

Wieland added that recent model runs have receded a bit, only stirring up a few weak systems to our south that are in good shape.

The GFS American model, for example, shows weak circulation and will move into the Greater Antilles early next week and fail to come close to Florida, Correa said.

“This is good news. Of course we will have to watch. They should definitely keep a close eye on the islands,” Correa said.

Atlantic hurricane season will continue until November 30.
