Two pedestrians were struck, one fatally, in separate crashes on Long Island Monday night.

Shortly after 11 p.m. in Inwood, a male pedestrian was struck by a 2004 Ford Explorer traveling south on Sheridan Boulevard near Nassau Boulevard, Nassau police said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

A few hours earlier, around 9:10 p.m. in North Amityville, a 17-year-old boy was walking on New Highway at the intersection of Pine Road when he was struck by a southbound 2007 Toyota Prius.

Suffolk police said the North Amityville teenager was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The Toyota driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

The vehicle was seized for security check.
